In the early '80s, three young Melbourne girls sprinted down the path to stardom; Young Talent Time series regular Dannii Minogue, her older sister Kylie, whose Neighbours fame landed her 100 million adoring fans overnight - but what about the third sister?
The forgotten baby sister, Miss Erin Minogue?
This is her story.
ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS: THE ERIN MINOGUE EXPERIENCE is a one-hour one-woman contemporary comic cabaret featuring a swag of classic Kylie and Dannii hits, sung by Erin and coloured with her unique perspective. Internationally acclaimed and locally revered cabaret and musical theatre performer, Lizzie Moore, is our heroine - Erin Minogue.
A delightful, engaging and hilarious star of the stage, Lizzie reveals Erin's eye-opening staged-biopic of an extraordinary life un-led with sparkling energy, untold insight and more three-finger smiles than the song and dance section of the Port Macquarie Dance Eisteddfod.
Erin Minogue. The unremarkable, and supremely overlooked, younger sister who watched as her international superstar sisters skyrocketed to stardom. As Dannii and Kylie released chart-topping singles, and dated every rock star and teen idol along the way, Erin opened a dance school in Frankston and predictably became the classic third sibling; just like Khloe Kardashian.
And Jamie Lynn Spears.
And Trevor Chappell.
"It's time to tell the story of all those third-child-wannabes," said Moore. "Underrated and overlooked everywhere, Erin finally has her chance to shine. At Midsumma Festival, finally SHE could be so lucky."
Commissioned by the Festival of Voices, Hobart in 2013, ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS has since played at BL-NK in London, the Queensland Cabaret Festival and, most recently, to sell-out houses at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. Watch as Erin invites us into the life of a celebrity sibling who never existed, based on an entirely untrue, fiercely entertaining and completely plausible story.
Charming Rebel presents ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS: THE ERIN MINOGUE EXPERIENCE at Chapel Off Chapel for two shows only, January 20 and 21. Tickets available at www.midsumma.org.au or www.chapeloffchapel.com.au.
