A murky recollection of the extreme highs and lows from a night out with the girls in a highly physical performance featuring DJ Mortice and Tension.
Theatre makers Milly Cooper (Wielding Theatre) and Kitan Petkovski (Bullet Heart Club) have teamed up with DJ Mortice and Tension to recreate the pitch perfect vibe of a night out in Melbourne. Getting ready rituals, pre-drinks, dancing until dawn, drive-thru take-aways, Uber rides home and the unescapable attention from men; at the bar, the dance floor, the ally, the early morning walk home.
An all-too-familiar portrayal of the artificial highs and comedown lows that can happen within one evening are performed by Ellen Grimshaw (Inside Film Award, Queensland New Filmmakers Award, Best Supporting Actor - MUFF), Sophia Simmons (Flinders University Young Playwright Award), Alli Whitmore (1984, Bustown), spoken word artist Olive Asi and Natalie Shinners. Real stories drawn from the cast are integrated with fiction by contributing playwright Laura Collins (A Dog Called Monkey) to create a kaleidoscope of the most memorable and most regretful late-night encounters for an intimate audience at The Burrow.
"Dancing with strangers is strange at first, stranger at second, and danger at third. Meeting eyes and holding hands, and getting drunk, and saying yes but meaning no, and falling and falling and falling and falling..."
