Danielle Asciak debuts her internationally-acclaimed one-woman cabaret show Everyone Wants a Piece of Malta! in the inaugural 2016 Melbourne Fringe program at the Basement at Hawthorn Arts Centre Tuesday 27 September-Saturday 1 October 8pm and Sunday 2 October 7pm.
With 5 star ratings from Adelaide Theatreguide, a nomination for the Vinaceous Cabaret Award Fringe World 2014 and a recent Artist in Residence with the Fondazzjoni Kreattivita, Valletta, Asciak is one of this year's most anticipated cabaret acts. Danielle Asciak grew up in Glenroy, Victoria and has been involved in Melbourne Fringe 2011 and 2012 as Artist and Comedy Judge. She recently moved to Sydney to broaden her career in film and television. She has been performing cabaret professionally for eight years thrilling audiences across Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Berlin, Paris, Tokyo and Seoul, and now Malta!
Under the guidance of Maude Davey (The Burlesque Hour, My Life in the Nude) Asciak develops her inner comedienne in a witty narrative about what it means to be exotic in Australia and the coming-to-terms experience she had when traveling back to her ancestral land Malta for the first time. With a selection of original compositions, popular music, traditional Maltese folk songs and Eurovision hits; everyone will want a piece of it!
