Humour Breaks the Ice Queensland Theatre Company presents an education performance of David Brown's Eating Ice Cream With Your Eyes Closed- a modern Australian comedy which follows Macca, Dayne and Doug, a trio of misfits who are all trying to escape the town of Mayoonderie and follow their dreams.
At a lonely bus stop, Dayne is waiting for a bus to the Gold Coast, even though he says he doesn't have enough money. He's joined by Macca who's been thrown off the XPT for stopping the train. And finally, Doug arrives, furious because his plastic merchandising has been rejected by the local bowling club.
Covering the harsh landscape of prejudice, isolation and cultural stereotypes, Eating Ice Cream With Your Eyes Closed offers a sharp, yet humorous insight into the realities of being a bloke inregional Australia. Eating Ice Cream With Your Eyes Closed is an education performance - part of Queensland Theatre Company series of shows for high school students.
This year our education performances are open to the general public, for the keenly enthusiastic theatre-goer. Queensland Theatre Company has an extensive Youth & Education program which includes threeannual education performances, in-school theatre workshops for metropolitan and regional areas, professional development workshops for drama teachers, a young playwrights program and more.
