Darebin Arts is bringing the circus to town this September as it presents Circus Oz's latest absurd and pants-wetting show, TWENTYSIXTEEN, at the Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre in Preston. Circus Oz is fresh from touring the show internationally, thrilling circus lovers with its Australian larrikin humour: think boisterous flying human cockatoos!
TWENTY SIXTEEN is 100 percent human. It pushes the boundaries of possibility, and defies the laws of physics - using the big stage at the Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre to its very limit.
The turbo-charged acrobats bring amazing new skills and wizardry to the flying trapeze, the Chinese pole and unicycle adagio. A brand New Group-juggling act is sure to drop jaws as 21 clubs duck and weave from acrobat to acrobat.
As a prominent music hub, Darebin is particularly thrilled to program a Circus Oz show with another incredible live music score. And Anni Davey is the show's guest director; a figurehead of the industry best known as a freelance director, teacher of physical theatre and circus, and Chair of ACAPTA (Australian Circus and Physical Theatre Association).
An eclectic mix of extraordinary skills, ridiculous characterisation, hilarious mayhem and fabulous live music, this show is a celebration of the great values of Circus Oz that have generated critical acclaim and endeared the company into the hearts of audiences around the world.
The critically acclaimed TWENTYSIXTEEN will play for two days only at Darebin Arts and Entertainment Centre on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 September.
TWENTYSIXTEEN is suitable for people of all ages. It's a little bit naughty. A little bit nice.
