Advanced Screening is a romantic comedy/drama written specifically for teenagers and their families  about the problems that arise when young inexperienced people are in serious relationships. The narrative is a fast paced episode based story revolving around a group of friends in year 12 on the verge of finishing school and dealing with the minefield of the future and their relationships after school. The production explores these issues by presenting the characters as they move through a range of awkward and confronting situations that will not only entertain, but also make students reflect on their own experiences and choices.

A cast of 10 young drama performers will be selected from hundreds of Brisbane high school students who will audition in a massive 11 hour day at the Brisbane Powerhouse on Sunday May 2nd. Over the next 10 weeks the ten talented young actors will receive valuable real world experience in rehearsal techniques, live performance and film performance as they prepare to present a high quality 2 week season at the Visy Theatre in July. Another 20 auditionees will be chosen to participate in the green screen film shoot as extras, gaining great film experience and an opportunity to see themselves on the big screen.

Writers, directors and producers Brad Jennings and Steven Maxwell are the creatives behind Markwell Presents and have been working with young people to present professional performance seasons in theatre venues since 2001. They met working together as teachers in Townsville and decided to write and produce new work for young people using digital projection technology. Brad and Steven have been working together to create new live theatre performance form called cinematic theatre, while also working as artists in residence on more than 45 secondary school and youth arts productions around Queensland.

Advanced Screening will be performed July 14, 15, 20, 21, and 22 at 11am, July 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22 and 23 at 7:30pm, and on July 17 and 24 at 2pm.
