To celebrate the re-opening of Melbourne's most-loved concert hall, Arts Centre Melbourne is presenting a program of community-orientated participatory events throughout July – September.

eMotion
Flash mob will meet dancehall in a spectacular way when 200 young people come together for the ultimate dance-off at the new Hamer Hall Opening Celebrations. eMotion will be the culmination of a six-month program of real and virtual dance interventions with youth from Melbourne's Western corridor and Ballarat in collaboration with Barkly Arts Centre.

Kaeru with Hiroshi Fuji and the Slow Art Collective
Following the Opening Celebrations, a large-scale public artwork by acclaimed Japanese artist Hiroshi Fuji, Arts Centre Melbourne's artist-in-residence in 2012, will be created together with children and families using recycled materials. Throughout August, everyone can contribute to the project, known as Kaeru, which will be created in purpose-built tents on the Arts Centre Melbourne's lawn before being unveiled to the public on Saturday 25 August.

Raising the Roof with Graeme Leak and Patrick Cronin
Vocal and instrumental ensembles from communities across Victoria come together through musical collaboration in Raising the Roof, a grand-scale music making celebration devised and curated by Graeme Leak and Patrick Cronin. Participating musicians from Indigenous, African, Asian, European and Middle Eastern communities will fill the new Hamer Hall and be joined by the audience in a celebration of music-making by singing, clapping and stomping to 'raise the roof' off of Hamer Hall.

This pop-up exhibition will be the culmination of a twelve-week studio program asking students to respond to the new sights and sounds created by the new Hamer Hall.
