Enter a fanciful world of giant creatures, storytelling, magic and illusion when Me and My Shadow comes to Adelaide from 17 – 21 April in the Space Theatre.
Imaginative, magical, miraculous, moving and funny, Me and My Shadow is about a girl discovering her shadow and the journey they take to become friends. Children love to play with shadows. They are mysterious and magical and can do amazing things. But making friends with your shadow can be a tricky business. There are things to sort out, negotiations to be made, frustrations to be overcome, problems to solve, adventures to be had and laughter to be shared.
Me and My Shadow is theatre for children, telling its story using paper, light, shadow, colour, water, music, sound and words. With fantastical imagery, quirky physical performances and a beautiful score, Me and My Shadow will ignite the imaginations of all children, and is a magical experience exploring the frustrations and joys of friendship, press note state.
Developed through two years of creative collaboration between Roz Hervey,
Dave Brown, and Geoff Cobham, as well as composer
Zoe Barry, this piece of visual theatre was the recipient of the Helpmann Award in 2011 for Best Presentation for Children and was also nominated for a 2011 Sydney Theatre Award for Best Production for Children.
Dave Brown, Patch Theatre's Artistic Director, says: "If anyone questions me about the future of theatre, I invite them to sit in an audience of 4-8 year olds! Children respond to quality theatre experiences with such immediacy and exuberance that you can't doubt its power and impact.
