In its highly anticipated third Dining Room Tale, Melbourne's acclaimed independent performance company A is for Atlas invites an intimate audience to dine with songwriter, psychologist and cook David Chong as he prepares a communal meal for the audience.

Born on the outskirts of Sydney to travelling Chinese acrobats, David grew up in Brazil, before returning as a migrant to his native Australia speaking only Portuguese, Cantonese, and almost no English.

Acrobat is David's tale of his contemporary cultural mosaic - a high-wire dance from Hong Kong to Australia on the sounds of Brazil. A charismatic storyteller, Brazilian jazz singer and passionate cook, David will host a meal that sings of the weight of heritage and the light touch of difference, cultivated through the kitchens of the world.

Tables of food have held the most wondrous stories of humankind: stories of celebration and conflict, of joy and tribulation, of love and loss. In the dining room our stories pass through communion as plates around a table, carried on the heightened breath of a storyteller and on the aromas which so fire the tastebuds.
