Following the hit production Holding The Man comes Tommy Murphy's brilliant new comedy Gwen In Purgatory. Co-produced by La Boite and Company B Belvoir and directed by Australia's finest director Neil Armfield, Gwen plays at La Boite from 29 September after sell-out shows in Sydney.
At 90, Gwen's discovered that purgatory is sitting in a new house, trying to work out if the remote control operates the air con or fan-assisted oven. As she muddles her way through baffling technology, her family gathers around her to battle over what's going to happen next. "Full of laughs but also extremely emotional, Gwen in Purgatory is the best play to hit a Sydney stage this year" says The Daily Telegraph - it's about the Houlihan family, but it is also about yours!
"As deft and pungent a comedy as you are likely to see this year or any other...it already feels like a classic - but you won't see it produced any better than this." - Sydney Morning Herald.
"9/10...the comedy is truly Australian, pitched close to vintage ABC sitcom Mother and Son" -The Sun-Herald.
