It's the middle of winter, the headlines aren't cheery, the days seEm Longer and you're living a life in limbo, unless of course you're out and about and have been enjoying the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, which has been running for the last two weeks and finishes this weekend, Saturday 20 June.
For those who have flocked to the Adelaide Festival Centre and its Cabaret venues it's been two weeks of non-stop entertainment, uplifting distractions, superb cabaret acts and a chance to catch up with friends and enjoy being entertained by some of the best in the business, and there's still more to come!

- The irrepressible Bob Downe will perform his Adelaide premiere of ‘World War Bob'
- Return to the bygone era of ragtime ditties and vaudeville with nostalgic music by U.S. performer Janet Klein and Her Parlor Boys
- The underworld gangster sounds of Pugsley Buzzard on piano in ‘Noir'
- The World Premiere of ‘Magpie Blues' by one of Australia's most talented performers, Ursula Yovich
- Back by popular demand are Darren & Sharon in ‘The Carpenters From Kempsey'
- Mother and daughter Mary & Melinda on stage together for a rare treat in ‘Schneiderville'
- The dynamic Nick Christo in ‘The Fabulous Frances Faye'
- Funny lady Jackie Loeb in ‘I Really Am Lovely'
- Aussie rock legend Ross Wilson in ‘No Smoke, Just Mirrors'
- And to ensure the festival finishes in party mode, VulgarGrad will perform the songs of the Russian thieves!
So far 54 performances have sold out, some of them on this week include: Tony Award winning Broadway star Lilias White, Kate Ceberano's world premiere of ‘Love & the Bottom Line' and ‘Everybody's Got Something To Hide'.
The ninth Adelaide Cabaret Festival has been a resounding success. By the end of the festival we will have achieved more than 48,000 attendances, this includes free events and activities. The Festival's box office is already 15% up on what was achieved in the '08 Festival and 3% up on the '07 Festival.
Artistic Director David Campbell says "This year we have more than doubled the number of tickets sold to interstate and overseas patrons and the feedback from artists and audiences has been incredibly positive. It's been great to see so many Cabaret lovers out and about enjoying the 2009 Festival and we're on track for achieving the highest number of SOLD tickets ever for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival."
