The 10th Adelaide Cabaret Festival draws to a close this weekend after a sizzling two weeks of ticket sales, making the 2010 Festival the most successful Cabaret Festival ever. This year's Festival broke all previous Festival box offices achieving a 25% increase on the '09 Festival and with more than 80,000 attendances, an increase on last year of 67% due to a combination of new programming, food and beverage offerings and free events.

Adelaide Festival Centre's CEO & Artistic Director Douglas Gautier announced "The tenth Adelaide Cabaret Festival has been a resounding success and David Campbell and the team have done a superb job. By the end of the Festival we anticipate 50 performances will have sold out, proving the popularity of this festival continues to grow each year. This year sponsorship of the Festival also increased as new partnerships were developed with Adelaide BMW, Alba Capital Partners Limited, Belvedere Vodka and InterContinental Adelaide, adding to the corporate support alongside principal partner FOXTEL.

Artistic Director David Campbell says "The feedback from audiences and artists about this year's Festival, the biggest Cabaret Festival in the world, has been outstanding, everyone is having a great time and press reviews have been marvellous. If you haven't yet experienced the brilliant world-class talent the 10th Festival has had to offer, get down here for the final weekend I guarantee you will not be disappointed! Looking ahead, we're already working on next year and look forward to seeing everyone again when the festival opens in 2011 on the Queen's Birthday long weekend on 10 June."

With two nights of the Festival to go there are still plenty of tickets for the final weekend still available for Shoshana Bean, star of Broadway smash hits Wicked and Hairspray in her late night show in the Banquet Room. The UK's Frisky & Mannish will teach you a few lessons in their twisted pop cabaret School of Pop, the delightfully sophisticated and dizzyingly young New York based musical theatre writing duo Pasek & Paul will present cutting-edge musical theatre. Catch Trevor Ashley's outrageous impersonation of Liza Minnelli in Liza [on an E], Irish-born singer songwriter Damien Leith presents An Irish Journey and fans of Noel Coward will love Alex Rathgeber in Experiment. The final weekend also provides you the opportunity to see the Emmy-winning and Tony nominated US actress Liz Callaway in a thrilling evening of songs and stories on the Festival Theatre Stage and back by popular demand is Adelaide's favourite Logie award winning actor Hugh Sheridan in Newley Discovered.

Highlights of this year's Adelaide Cabaret Festival included the sold out Variety Gala performance and nine-time Grammy award winner Natalie Cole. Sold out performances by Caroline O'Conner and yesterday's real life political drama took The Wharf Revue's Pennies from Kevin to a whole new level. And by far the hottest tickets in demand were for the highly anticipated Smoke & Mirrors, rock'n'roll style cabaret which has undoubtedly been a crowd favourite with more tickets for this show just released on sale.

The piano bar was the place to be seen with Broadway antics by New York's larger than life Mark Nadler performing free on stage with guest artists every night of the Festival. Patrons and performers mingled alongside one another throughout the Festival making the Adelaide Festival Centre the hottest place in town this winter.
