On Monday 18 June, the QPAC Choir will present its first major public performance for 2012 – Pure Imagination: An evening of beautiful choral music in the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) Concert Hall.
The Choir is an initiative of QPAC and managed as part of QPAC's artistic program.
Under the direction of Chorusmaster, Tim Sherlock, the 100 voice QPAC Choir will present an evening of uplifting choral music featuring a diverse and eclectic repertoire, including choral favourites from John Rutter, W. A. Mozart, and Malcolm Williamson.
The concert will also showcase exciting choral arrangements of songs by John Lennon/Paul McCartney, Anthony Newley/Leslie Bricusse, Agnetha Fältskog (ABBA); and an original work by Chorusmaster, Tim Sherlock.
The concert will feature special guest artists, including Queensland's favourite tenor and recording artist Gregory Moore; organist Robert Dearness; and musicians from the Queensland Youth Orchestra.
Following their recent performance at the Anzac Day commemorations in Turkey the 32 voices from the St Joseph's College Gregory Terrace and All Hallows' School Combined Schools Gallipoli Choir will also join the QPAC Choir.
QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas says this concert is something QPAC looks forward to presenting each year.
"Year on year the development of the QPAC choir is important to us as we bring together the local community - performers from all backgrounds who have a shared love of creating music, and we give them the opportunity to perform on a grand scale.
"We all feel something magical happen when a group of individuals sing together. We welcome our special guest artists for Pure Imagination and under Tim Sherlock's lead audiences of all ages have the opportunity to share the experience," Kotzas said.
