ZACH Theatre has announced the casting for a world premiere, multi-cultural, musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, at the Topfer Theatre, November 26 - December 28, 2014. This fresh take on the holiday classic, infused with modern pop, rock, and R&B hits, stars HARVEY GUION (White Christmas) as Ebenezer Scrooge, RODERICK SANFORD (The Gospel At Colonus) as the Ghost of Marley, and PAUL SANCHEZ (The Who's Tommy) as the humble Bob Crachit.
The soulful Christmas Ghosts are KENNY WILLIAMS (The Gospel At Colonus) as the Ghost of Christmas Past, AMMA OSEI as the Ghost of Christmas Present/Mrs. Dilbert, and JOSEPH URICK as the Ghost of Christmas Future. JACQUI CROSS (The Gospel At Colonus) plays the Ghost of Christmas Present from November 26-December 2. WILLIAM MAY (A Christmas Story) is Tiny Tim, sure to win your heart. MICHAEL VALENTINE (The Who's Tommy) returns to Austin in the role of Scrooge's nephew Fred.
Also cast are SARAH BURKE as Belle; RICK ROEMER as Mr. Fezziwig; LAURA BENEDICT as Mrs. Fezziwig; ALEJANDRA MURGA as Mrs. Cratchit; GUSTAVO GOMEZ as Pedro Cratchit; MARIANEL MARQUEZ as Marta Cratchit, and MADELINE RODRIGUEZ as Belinda Cratchit. The adult ensemble features ELISA REGULSKI, TYLER JONES, JOEL MERCADO-SEE, KELLY PETLIN (A Year with Frog and Toad), JACQUE CLYDESDALE, RUSSEL TAYLOR, NICHOLAS GARZA, LUKE LINSTEAD, CELESTE CASTILLO with youth ensemble including CAROLINE HOOTEN, QUINN ERIKSON, DIEGO RODRIGUEZ (The Who's Tommy), MADISYN MORENO, BLACKENEY MAHLSTEDT, ELLA DEVANY, ANDERSON ZOLL, THEO RICHARD, and ELLA RUTMAN.
A Christmas Carol is adapted and directed by DAVE STEAKLEY with Musical Direction by ALLEN ROBERTSON, Choreography by CHRISTA OLIVER, Scenic Design by BOB LAVELLEE, Costume Design by SUSAN BRANCH TOWNE, Hair and Makeup Design by SERRET JENSON, Lighting Design by SARAH MAINES, Sound Design by CRAIG BROCK, and Properties Design by SCOTT GROH.
An array of hits from artist such as Pharrell Williams, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Michael Bublé, Madonna, Al Green, and the Doobie Brothers put an anachronistic twist on Charles Dickens' classic holiday tale. The delightful pairing of spectacular Victorian costumes with a modern score will joyously whisk you out of your seat and into the holiday spirit.
