"And the nominees are..."

This Friday, March 6th, the Long Center takes a page from the Tony Awards handbook when it hosts the second annual nominations announcement for the Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards. Surrounded by hundreds of talented Austin students, local sponsors and supporters, teachers, and representatives from the University of Texas, the Long Center for the Performing Arts, and ZACH Theatre's Education Director Nat Miller; nominees for 15 categories will be announced in preparation for the awards ceremony on April 14th.

26 schools- ranging geographically from Buda, to Round Rock, to Bastrop and Dripping Springs- are participating in this year's Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards (often referred to as GAHSMTA), which recognizes outstanding musical theatre achievement in high schools in everything from acting, to choreography, to technical execution and direction.

Nominations begin at 7:00 AM Friday morning in the Rollins Studio Theatre. Both members of the press and public are invited to join the excitement and watch as the much anticipated nominees are read.
