Texas Performing Arts at the University of Texas Austin presents YAMATO ROJYOH - The Beat on the Road 20th Anniversary Tour. They will play at the Bass Concert Hall on October 23rd.
"Pure energy meets spiritual high" (The Scotsman) best describes this performance that is infused with the idea that the drumbeat, like the heartbeat, is the very pulse of life. Performing on a mind-altering array of Japan's traditional Wadaiko drums, the men and women of Yamato deliver a heart-pounding spectacle of athleticism, precision, and exhilarating musical expertise.
Founded in 1993 in Nara-considered the birthplace of Japanese culture-the 17 master drummers of Yamato are young, modern, and brimming with infectious energy as they take the ancient art of taiko drumming and bring it to the present. Selling out all over the planet, Yamato is, according to the London Telegraph, "Simply breathtaking."Tickets ($36 - $42 / Limited $10 student tickets / discounted tickets available for UT faculty & staff, seniors and Military) are on sale now at authorized ticket outlets, which include the Bass Concert Hall Ticket Office and all Texas Box Office outlets, online at TexasPerformingArts.org, or by calling (512) 477-6060 or (800) 982-BEVO.
