According to their website: "Desert Noises is Kyle Henderson, Tyler Osmond, Patrick Boyer, and Brennan Allen, four adventurers from Utah Valley, UT. Ask about their recent musical influences, and you'll extract a litany on the riches of Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, and Tame Impala. If it seems an unlikely trio of choices, it simply means that you haven't yet become acquainted with their propulsive, jangle-rich breed of rock 'n roll."
At a recent visit to SXSW in Austin, Texas , Desert Noises answered a few questions about who they are and what to expect when you see their shows.
How did you come up with the name of your band?
It was a dream. I don't remember the dream. I just remember waking up and writing it down and seeing it on the piece of paper by my bed.
How did you get started?
We met through the local music scene. I had started the band like five years ago, six years ago. Eventually everyone just joined us. When the time came it was really random. We've been together two years now.
For your band, what do you think your genre is?
It's always so hard to explain. The songs come out of touring and those are just so many different experiences. It all stems from experiences being out with different people, different cities, different influences, break downs on the road. It all plays into it.
Do you write your own music?
Every song would be different. Some of them come from a jam. Kyle will come to the table with a melody or lyrics and we'll jam on it. Some songs will come straight from the jam. It's different every time.
You're touring a lot. So what are some of your most memorable experiences touring?
Most nights are so memorable. We meet really amazing people and it's hard to say that there's just one that has been amazing because it's just the whole experience being out has been amazing.
What are some cities you have been to recently?
We just finished the west coast and that was great. San Francisco, LA, Portland, Seattle.
Where do you see yourselves in five years?
To be doing this and still be enjoying it as much as we are.
