Penfold Theatre Company presents Murder on the Rails, a murder mystery aboard the Austin Steam Train Sunday, August 10th.
The Nifty Nineties - 1890s, that is - aren't all that nifty for one family whose fortune hinges on a brand new ice cream recipe. Their mid-summer celebration to unveil the new flavor is marred by murder! Who killed the patriarch of pistachio parfaits? Was it his seemingly vanilla daughter? Did the ad-man turn "madman?" This murder in (loco)motion is topped with two scoops of sweet, sweet revenge.
Murder on the Rails is made possible by a generous partnership with the Austin Steam Train Association, which exists to give Central Texans an opportunity to experience steam train-era transportation. Since 1992, the Association has been delighting riders with excursions between train stations in Cedar Park, Bertram and Burnett.
While the story unfolds before them, passengers will enjoy a three hour ride through the beautiful Texas hill country and indulge in a variety of hors d'oeuvres, as well as wine and beer service, all included in the ticket price.
Reservations for Murder on the Rails close August 4th, and tickets are already selling fast, so guests are encouraged to make their reservations early. The performance will conclude Penfold Theatre Company's sixth season of live theatre programming.
