With the school year's end on the horizon, Alamo Drafthouse has announced the return of its annual Summer Kids Camp. All summer long families can escape on cinematic adventures in air-conditioned bliss with a specially curated lineup of kid-friendly, film-favorites on the cheap.

Catch a returning blockbuster like MINIONS, share a modern classic like IRON GIANT, or help fuel summer reading with a rollicking book adaptation like MATILDA -- all for just $1, $3 or $5 a ticket, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting local non-profits.

Each Kids Camp title is hand-picked by the Alamo Drafthouse programming team with film fans aged 3 to 12 in mind, with an eye towards offering alternatives to the summer's PG-13 heavy slate of new releases.

"Kids Camp really is a true expression of the Alamo Drafthouse mission," says Amy Averett, Alamo Drafthouse Director of Family and Community Engagement. "Fostering a love of cinema, giving back to the community, and just plain having fun. It's what we're all about. We've got a great lineup this year and are excited to offer the chance for families to amp up their community giving with the new $5 option while also enjoying some summer moviegoing fun."

Kids Camp benefits local nonprofits that are selected by the Alamo Drafthouse team in each city. This year, Alamo Drafthouse expects to donate $100,000 to approximately 35 nonprofits nationwide during Summer 2017. That means not only can families enjoy fun trip to the movies, but they can also support the missions of their own hometown community organizations.

Nonprofit partners include the volunteer firefighters in Ashburn, VA, public libraries in Littleton, CO and Yonkers, NY, animal welfare groups like Austin Pets Alive! and groups that serve children in need such as Make-A-Wish Foundation chapters, HopeKids in north Texas and Project Harmony in Omaha. Many Alamo Drafthouse locations are also supporting children's arts programs to foster creative expression and media literacy with organizations like Youth Radio in San Francisco and Opening Act in Brooklyn.

Kids Camp screenings take place at nearly every Alamo Drafthouse location every day (with some exceptions) from the beginning of June through August in matinee time-slots. Screenings are open to either All Ages or 3 and Up, depending on each local market's age policy. Normal Alamo Drafthouse No Talking/ No Texting rules apply to Kids Camp screenings. Families can buy tickets -- choosing from $1, $3, or $5 -- online to reserve their seats in advance.
