Lakeway Players Presents THE FOREIGNER Image

Directed by Linda Dobbs (Director of the 2016 hit, "Ghost of a Chance"), The Lakeway Players are pleased to announce their spring show "The Foreigner", a comedy by Larry Shue, and winner of two Obie Awards and two Outer Critics Circle Awards. You may have been lucky enough to see the play on Broadway with Matthew Broderick as Charlie, and we firmly believe you'll be as pleased, if not more, to see the fabulous Max Green as Charlie Baker on the Lakeway Activity Center Stage. Max comes to us from Bard College in New York, and has been seen here on stage at Zach Theater, St. Stephen's Episcopal School, and Doctuh Mistuh Productions.

Other cast members include returning favorites such as Tate Allyn (as Catherine Simms), Linda Bradshaw (Betty Meeks), Alle Bird (Froggy LaSeur), Marc Carlson (Rev. David Marshall Lee), and Tom Wood (Owen Musser).

This is truly a wonderful show, and will not disappoint those wanting a carefree evening of laughter, or a more thought provoking evening of social commentary. This hilarious, heartwarming story takes place in a rural fishing lodge often visited by 'Froggy' LeSeuer, a British demolition expert who occasionally runs training sessions at a nearby army base. This time 'Froggy' has brought along a friend, an extremely shy young man named Charlie who is overcome with fear at the thought of making conversation with strangers. So, 'Froggy' tells everyone that Charlie is from an exotic foreign country and speaks no English. Once alone the fun begins, as Charlie overhears more than he should ... the evil plans of a sinister, two faced minister and his associate; the fact that the minister's pretty fiancée' is pregnant; and many other damaging revelations made with the thought that Charlie doesn't understand a word being said. That he does, fuels the nonstop hilarity of the play and sets up the wildly funny climax in which things go uproariously awry for the 'bad guys', and the 'good guys' emerge triumphant.

The show will run Thursday - Saturday March 22, 23, and 24th at the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek, Lakeway, TX. Tickets are $20.00, include a snack and soda, and can be purchased from the Activity Center at 512-261-1010. Tickets are on sale now, so be sure to get your favorite table as soon as you can. As always, seating is at round tables for 10, and the doors open at 6:30 so you can bring your favorite food, adult beverages (including alcohol) and get the party started up to an hour before the play begins.
