The Hill Country Community Theatre is pleased to announce principal casting for the musical Seussical. Featuring the delightful music of the award-winning composing team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, Seussical reminds us of the first lesson of Dr. Seuss: Always Believe. Seussical will be directed Wendy Ferrell and will open July 16.
Riley Gisi stars as Jojo, with Patrick Lescarbeau as Horton the Elephant, and Holdon Fox and Jordon Jones doubling as The Cat in the Hat. Co-starring are April Lyon as Mayzie LaBird, Jennifer Brust as Gertrude McFuzz, Kay Baker as Sour Kangaroo, Randy L. Hilmer as General Genghis Kahn Schmitz, Ryan Schnitzler as The Mayor of Whoville, Linda Mayo as Mrs. Mayor, Renée Hand, Anna Jones and Grace Todd as the Bird Girls, and Corey Bogue, Holden Fox, Jordan Jones and Nathan Haywood as the Wickersham Brothers.
"This wonderful musical explores the power and mystery of imagination," said HCCT executive director Mike Rademaekers. "I can't imagine a more exciting and fantastic group of actors to inspire our audience to celebrate the world of Seuss."
The Hill Country Community Theatre production features vocal direction by Deborah Vanicek, choreography by Virginia Shoemake, and scenic and lighting design by Stephanie Ellis. Dr. Seuss's timeless stories burst to wondrous and enchanting musical life in one of the world's most popular musicals. Narrated by The Cat in the Hat, this magical show weaves the whimsical tale of Horton the Elephant and his quest to protect the people of Who-ville, people only he can hear.
Seussical will open on July 16 and run through July 26. Performances will be on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sunday matinees at 2:15 PM. Tickets will go on sale July 6 for HCCT members and July 9 for the general public.
