Band members Rachel Thompson, vocals, Wes Armstrong, drums, Sam Suarez, guitar, Wes Ballew, keys, Martin Aker, guitar, Jake Draper, bass blend well as they perform original songs all over the Austin area. They have just finished recording their first EP together and it will be released soon. As BWW caught up with them in Austin, we learned a lot about what this young band has in store for their futures.

Tell us a little more about your band and how you got together?

Martin: Wes and I got together about seven years ago and it's funny because we knew each other for like five years. Rachel had a different band and Jacob had a different band. We all used to play together when we were 16 or 17 years old. And Wes and Sam have been long friends of Wes and me. So, we had members in and out and we finally decided on this line up and we love it because we have so much history with each other and when the music comes out, it's always very smooth.

Big plans up ahead, EP.

Hopefully by the end of the year. We want to be full speed by South By. We recorded it over the summer. It's getting down to the album artwork so it should be out by the end of the year, maybe early 2015. We're working on playing lots of shows in Austin. We have a little Texas tour coming up in 2015. So, we're starting to get out there a little bit.

You wrote the music?

We all write. Someone will come in with an idea and we'll all build on to that idea. It's never really the same after we all have our hands through it. Total collaboration. The songs vary. I would say it's all rock and roll but there are different degrees of that. What always stays the same is that there's always lots of harmonies and the songs are usually catchy.
