Drama turns deadly in The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance's 2013-2014 season opening production, Dial "M" for Murder, October 4-13 at the B. Iden Payne Theatre.
Set in 1950s London, Tony Wendice concocts a plot to murder his wealthy wife Margot. When the scheme goes awry, he devises a sinister backup plan to get her out of the picture for good. For director and Department of Theatre and Dance chair Brant Pope, Dial "M" for Murder, published over 60 years ago, continues to captivate audiences. "We believe it will be absolutely clear why Alfred Hitchcock, the maestro of suspense, chose Knott's play for his masterpiece film," explains Pope. "As we celebrate the department's 75th anniversary, this masterful reversal of the whodunit murder mystery is a perfect way to kick off our enthralling 2013-2014 season." Dial "M" for Murder features an all-star cast including: Juliet Robb as Margot Wendice, Ryan Belock as Max Halliday, Harrison Harvey as Tony Wendice, Sean Moran as Captain Lesgate, Shanon Weaver as Inspector Hubbard, Michael Hettler as Thompson, and Rocket Thrall as Detective.Tickets ($25 adults, $20 UT faculty & staff, $15 student) are now on sale at authorized ticket outlets, which include the Bass Concert Hall Box Office, most H-E-B stores and all Texas Box Office outlets, online atwww.JoinTheDrama.org, or by calling (512) 477-6060 or (800) 982-BEVO.
