European curator and POP Austin International Art Show Co-Founder Lana Carlson announces "SX ART POP UP" - a very special Collectors Preview and Reception at the Penthouse of Hilton Residency located at 555 E. Fifth St., Austin, Texas 78701, on Thursday, March 15 and Friday, March 16.
This unique preview will give visiting and local fine art lovers and dealers the opportunity to experience contemporary art and design objects of highly revered artists spanning from Austin to Dallas and Las Vegas to Brighton. There will be a VIP, invite-only reception on Thursday, March 15 that will include a preview for special guests, collectors and SXSW Art Advisory Board members from 6 - 7 p.m. followed by the general reception from 7 - 11 p.m. Artists exhibited will include Brandon Mike (Austin, U.S.), Rich Levine (Brighton, U.K.), Mallory Dawn (Las Vegas, U.S.), Lea Fisher (Dallas, U.S.), and JD Miller (Dallas, U.S.). Special guest Alexey Izotov will set the atmosphere and vibe with a presentation of Burning Man style music. Cocktails will be provided by Gem & Bolt Mezcal, Treaty Oak Distilling Co. and others to be announced.

The following day on March 16 there will be a morning reception and a conversation with JD Miller, Founder of the Art School of "Reflectionism," from 12 - 2 p.m. also at the Penthouse of Hilton Residency. There will be croissants and coffee sponsored by McGuire Moorman Hospitality. Donors for the event include Rob Kientz, an anonymous donor, and others soon to be announced.
Both events are invite only, but there are limited spots for visiting collectors and VIPs who wish to attend. Those who wish to attend can submit their request here no later than March 14. Attendance is limited and will be on a first come, first serve basis.

"I'm proud to be a part of the SXSW Art Advisory Board and to have an opportunity to curate a POP up show with some of the hottest emerging from Austin and Dallas, as well as internationally. Art, sculpture and design objects will be showcased in a luxurious penthouse in downtown Austin - and it will certainly be a highlight of next week."
Lana Carlson served as the Head Curator and Co-Founder of the POP Austin International Art Show. Prior to conceptualizing POP Austin, she was Director and Founder of the Modern Art Gallery in Paris and St. Petersburg. Early on, Carlson earned degrees in Music Theory and Business Management. She later went on to attend The Sorbonne and School of Louvre in Paris, France studying The History of Twentieth Century Art, Contemporary Art, and History of Costume and Fashion. While completing her education, she worked as a specialist and art consultant at the Carpentier Art Gallery in Paris, where she practiced sales in many of the largest French auction houses such as A.Millon, Massol, Cornette de St. Cyr. Lana was responsible for curating and producing the first ever state museum exhibitions of Auguste Rodin at the Tsaritsyno Museum in Moscow and The Peter and Paul Fortress in Saint-Petersburg. In 2012, Carlson collaborated with artists Serebryakova and Bleikh on an exhibition in Paris titled "POP Asia." As a dealer and gallerist, Carlson participated in numerous art fairs around the world including Spoon in Hong Kong, ARCO in Madrid, Art Asia, Miami Art Basel and the Los Angeles Art Show. In 2014, Lana Carlson applied her education, multicultural background, expansive network and trilingual language skills to expand upon an idea that she introduced to the international art world. That concept is known today as POP Austin.
