The Atlanta Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society (ATOS Altanta) will be hosting a screening of the 1922 silent film NOSFERATU on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Plaza Theatre in Atlanta, Ga. ATOS Atlanta member Ron Carter will accompany the film on the theatre organ. This special Halloween event provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience a silent film accompanied by a traditional theatre organ, of which there are only a handful remaining in the United States and the state of Georgia. These magnificent instruments were designed to replicate the sound of a full orchestra on one instrument and they became popular during the height of the silent film era.
An unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel “Dracula”, "NOSFERATU" has been hugely influential on the horror genre. Starring Max Schreck as the vampire Count Orlok, the film’s success had a profound impact on the overall film industry.
