The Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. announced winners for the 2014-2015 Atlanta professional theatrical season this evening at the 11th annual awards ceremony held at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center. Presenters included local favorite performers Denise Arribas, Tiffany Porter, Gina Rickicki, Clifton Guterman, Kevin Harry, Jeremiah Parker Hobbs, Chris Kayser, and Topher Payne.
There were five special awards announced at the ceremony. They and their recipients are: The The 2015 Gene Gabriel Moore Playwriting Award, given to Topher Payne for his play, Perfect Arrangement produced by Process Theatre, and performed at OnStage Theatre.
The 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to the family of Jo Howarth Noonan, actor, artist and mentor, who passed away earlier this year;
The 2015 Callboard Award, which recognizes work by theatre professionals in production areas not included in the categories of the Suzi Performance Awards such as stage managers, technicians, front of house and patron staff, or others, voted upon exclusively by Suzi members. It was awarded to Elisabeth Cooper, Lighting and Props Designer, nominated by Synchronicity Theatre;
The 2015 Audience Choice Award for Outstanding Season was awarded to Theatrical Outfit;
And finally, The 2015 Spirit of Suzi Award was awarded to Inverness Productions.
As for the Suzi Awards for performance, the Alliance Theatre took home the most awards, 14 total, while Actor's Express was next in total awards with 6. Aurora Theatre was next in line, taking home 5 Suzis. Theatrical Outfit picked up 4, Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre Company snagged 2, and Georgia Ensemble and Synchronicity each grabbed one award.
