Heidi, the Girl from the Alps, was a two-volume novel written by Johanna Spyri in 1879 and has become one of the best-selling books ever written. It has been translated into 50 languages, and more than 50 million copies of the books have been sold worldwide. Johanna Spyri's story provides us with a snapshot of a world shaken by rapid social change, and empowers people to accept new challenges while keeping an open mind and good heart. This story has been adapted from the book by Martha King De Silva, and re-envisioned as a musical, with music and lyrics by Joan Cushing (Junie B Jones and Petite Rouge).
Heidi is directed by Julie Skrzypek, and will feature music direction by Christopher Cannon and choreography by Ricardo Aponte. The cast includes Atlanta-based actors Jessenia Ingram as Heidi, Emily Parrish Stembridge as Clara, Patrick Wade as Peter, Alex Van as Grandfather. The ensemble includes: Jake Krakovsky, Robert Owenby, Julie Trammel, and Taryn Carmona.
Every Friday is PJs & Play! Kids are invited to wear pajamas and enjoy milk and cookies while watching the show. Children will also be presented with chocolates courtesy of the Consulate General of Switzerland.
