Swing Night at the Aurora Theatre invites patrons to cut loose and have fun this summer with the Flashback to the 1970's concert on Saturday, June 25 at 8:00 PM. It is easy to laugh at 70's fads like mood rings, Mr. Microphone, the pet rock, and 8 track players. However, some magnificent music comes from that iconic decade and the Metro Jazz Club will be giving the big band treatment to music from 1970's legendary recording artists like Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind and Fire, Chicago, and many more favorites. Come decked out in bell bottoms and fringe, because there will be prize for the best 1970's outfit as well.
The Metro Jazz Club is a smokin'-hot 17 piece band, dedicated to the preservation of some of the best music ever composed from the smoothest jazz to the spirited rhythms of swing. Led by jazz sax man Gary Dalton, the band is accompanied by a sultry chanteuse, the magnificent Maxine Cummins and their newest member crooner Jason Joines. Jason stared out as the front man for 80's rock band Faith 'n Pain. Your hostess for the evening will be the incomparable Ann-Carol Pence, Aurora Theatre Associate Producer. The concert will also feature recording artist and one of Atlanta's busiest musical theatre performers,
Eric Moore (Travelin' Black, Big River at Theatrical Outfit and Christmas Canteen, Once This Island at Aurora Theatre).
Mr. Moore is a soulful tenor whose voice will lift your spirit and take you back to the 70's in style.
