In 2009, the Colquitt/Miller Arts Council introduced online ticketing to make the ticket buying experience more convenient for patrons, and in the process raised the Swamp Gravy ticket price from $22 to $26.56. For the 2014-2015 season, the Arts Council has increased its local box office hours and staff, as well as return the price of tickets to the pre-2009 level.
"Our Swamp Gravy patrons are wonderful, and they have supported us through a lot of changes over the years," says CMAC Artistic Director Kate Willis. "The online ticketing has been helpful in someways, but as we have listened to our patrons during the transition, we've learned that many of them prefer to speak with a friendly, knowledgable, local staff person rather than just purchase off a website. So in addition to our online ticketing, we've added staff, and increased our daily box office hours back to the old Monday-Friday, 9-5 to provide that friendly, personal service our patrons deserve. The new, lower ticket price is another way we say thank you for your continued support."
The extended box office hours and new prices are in effect now for the next Swamp Gravy production, "Swamp Gravy: Lost and Found," opening at Cotton Hall October 3rd 2014. Patrons can reach the box office by calling 229-758-5450 Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. A group rate of $20 per person is available to groups of 20 or more.
"Swamp Gravy" is Georgia's Official Folk Life Play, and features a new production annually based on true stories gathered from the area. In "Swamp Gravy: Lost & Found," the characters will discover that true blessings aren't always where you expect to find them. "Swamp Gravy: Lost and Found" runs October 3-25, 2014 and March 6-28, 2015, with performances Fridays at 7:30 and Saturdays at 2:00 and 5:30.
