The Stage Door Players continue their current season with upcoming productions of MASTER CLASS, BREACHED WAILS, and COMPANY.
From March 19 through April 11, 2010
Terrence McNally's MASTER CLASS will take the stage.
Diva: Maria Callas. The name evokes greatness, beauty, talent and in some cases, fear. While interacting and teaching three students over the course of a "master class," Callas muses on her past performances, successes and failures, her infamous relationship with Aristotle Onassis, and the sacrifices we all must make in the name of art.
There will be no performance on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010.
BEACHED WAILS, the lighthearted comedy by local playwright, Topher Payne, will run May 14 through June 6, 2010 with a preview on May 13.
BEACHED WAILS finds four sisters from Mississippi whose annual beach vacation getaway is interrupted by a mysterious neighbor, unanswered questions, and an impending storm.
George Furth and
Stephen Sondheim's COMPANY will play from July 16 through August 8, 2010 will a preview on July 15.
On the night of his 35th birthday, confirmed bachelor Robert contemplates his unmarried state. In vignette after hilarious vignette, we are introduced to "those good and crazy people," his married friends, as Robert weighs the pros and cons of married life. In the end, he realizes being alone is "alone, not alive." This innovative work by
Stephen Sondheim is considered by many to have inaugurated the modern era of musical theatre.
