Spring has sprung and whether it means April showers or May flowers, one thing is certain - opportunities abound for some great theatre in Atlanta. In this, our first spring preview story we aim to highlight some of the most anticipated shows this season. From regional premiere musicals to emotional drama, there is certainly plenty to choose from for Atlanta theatre fans of all ages! Check out just a few of the great productions playing the Atlanta area this spring!

The Drowsy Chaperone - Book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar, Music and Lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison - Aurora Theatre

March 14 - April 14

Gwinnett's only professional theatre, The Aurora Theatre, presents the Broadway hit that pays tribute to the Jazz-Age shows of the 20's that were a favorite for so many in the last century. Come join the "Man in Chair" as he shares with you his favorite score of all time, and witness the show magically come to life in his living room, with a wedding, zany guests, and of course a "drowsy" chaperone. Directed by Anne Towns this show is sure to be a fun spring escape from the pollen and heat of Atlanta!

Equus by Peter Shaffer - Actor's Express

March 21 - April 21

Actor's Express 25^th anniversary season continues with the "electrifying" play by Peter Shaffer which some have called "one of the most emotive pieces of theatre ever written." Directed by David Crowe, Equus stars Atlanta favorite, Chris Kayser as DR. Martin Dysart and Kyle Brumley as Alan Strang, the troubled young man at the center of this story.

The Fabulous Liptones- by Mark St. Germain and John Markus - Theatrical Outfit

March 27-April 21

When one of their founding members drops dead mid-performance, this small town America barbershop trio must race to find a new member for their quartet to win the national competition. Choosing a tenor who is an Indian Sikh with dubious immigration credentials makes their road to victory a funny and touching lesson in what it takes to create real harmony. This world premiere musical comedy, directed by Justin Anderson, stars Atlanta favorites Glenn Rainey, Tom Key, William S. Murphey, and Daniel Hilton.

Petite Rouge- by Joan Cushing- Synchronicity Theatre co-production with Aurora Theatre

March 29-April 21

To close out their 15th season, Synchronicity partners with the Aurora Theatre to revive their Suzi-nominated cajun fairy-tale, "Petite Rouge". Featuring members of the acclaimed original cast and directed by Atlanta's own Justin Anderson, "Petite Rouge" is part fairy tale, part adventure and all fun for all audiences. A Mardi Gras take on the "Little Red Riding Hood" featuring ducks, cats, gators, and gumbo. One hilarious adventure later, families, friends and theatre-lovers alike will be a fan of this fun show!

April 3 - May 5

Closing out the Alliance's season will be the regional premiere of a new American adaptation of the hit show that has played Europe and London's West End. The Alliance brings to life the timeless tale of Don Diego, famed lover and fighter who hides a delicious secret, that desert fox...Zorro! With music by The Gipsy Kings, Zorro is bound to be great a great night of theatre in Atlanta!

At the dawn of a new century, everything is changing... and anything is possible. Their compelling stories intertwine to form a rich tapestry of hopes and dreams, struggles and triumphs, rhythm and rhyme-set to an epic Tony-winning score and book. A colossal stage show based on the classic E. L. Doctorow novel.
