STAGE TUBE: Atlanta's Laura Floyd on Juggling Teaching and Acting

Laura Floyd is well known on the Atlanta stage for her recent portrayal of Bonnie in the premiere of Clyde 'n' Bonnie last year, for which she received a Suzi Bass Award nomination. But in addition to being a stage star, she simultaneously teaches at Holy Innocents' Episcopal School.

11Alive news visited her in rehearsal as she directed an elementary school production of Pirates of Penzance with over sixty students In this video, Ms. Floyd talks about her busy career and how teaching goes hand-in-hand with acting, and the kids even say some glowing remarks about their teacher.

Laura Floyd graduated from Shorter College with a BFA in musical theatre and got her master's degree in voice performance at Mercer. She has starred in many productions around Atlanta recently, including The Mikado, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. In March and April, she will be appearing in the Stage Door Players production of I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change.
