The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF) will give aspiring Atlanta-area performers a chance to make their "big break" when the program presents Generation: The 2015 Summer Intensive Tour. The national non-profit training program, which is based in Atlanta and offering its ninth consecutive year of programming there, will present an incredible roster of Broadway directors, performers, and industry insiders who will offer highly personalized musical theatre training and mentoring through unique, week-long performing arts intensive workshops for students of all ages, skill levels, and socio-economic backgrounds.
The Atlanta program, which will focus on the development of new works, will take place Tuesday, May 26 through Saturday, May 30, 2015. Training will be conducted at BDF's long-time partner venue, RISPA Performing Arts (14155 Hwy 9, Alpharetta, GA) with a final concert there on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 general admission and $35 VIP and can be purchased here. Tuition for the program is $795 and students may register online at www.mybroadwaydreams.com.
Two successful BDF Atlanta alum, Ryann Redmond (If/Then, Bring It On The Musical) and Greg Kamp (Harmony, Catch Me If You Can), will return as members of the BDF faculty. Atlanta-area students will also have the opportunity to work with other impressive Broadway professionals, including Olivier Award- nominated director Stafford Arima (Allegiance, Carrie), acclaimed Atlanta-based director / choreographer Otis Sallid (Smokey Joe's Cafe, Black Nativity), Craig D'Amico (Annie Get Your Gun), Quentin Earl Darrington (Ragtime), DreamWorks writer / composer Drew Fornarola (Veggie Tales, Shrek the Halls), Gregory Haney (Wicked, Bring It On The Musical), film and television actress Kyme (School Daze), and musical director Roberto Sinha (It Shoulda Been You, Big Fish).
"There are many performing arts programs to choose from," says BDF Executive Director Annette Tanner. "However, at BDF we go above and beyond to ensure that each student gets the training and connections they need to succeed in a very competitive industry. Stafford Arima has personally given several Atlanta students opportunities including casting Ari Groover in Bare Off-Broadway, Laura Steele in Ragtime at Lincoln Center, several students in the pre-Broadway workshop of The Me Nobody Knows. You could be next."
During each intensive, attendees will receive first-rate training in acting, dance and vocal technique before performing alongside their Broadway idols in a dynamic concert directed by one of the industry's finest directors. Students will also learn how to improve their audition skills and have the opportunity to audition and perform for top NYC casting directors and agents, who will offer valuable feedback.
BDF will visit seven other U.S. cities this summer before bringing its unique program to Canada for the first time. Generation will move from Atlanta to The Pavilion at Midtown Crossing in Omaha, NE; RWS & Associates in New York, NY; Dance Tech Studios in Park City, UT; Theatre Aspen in Aspen, CO; Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, PA; and Sheridan College in Toronto, Ontario.
