After a sensational and fully sold-out first run at the Center for Puppetry Arts, Rudolph the Red-Nosed ReindeerTM is soaring back into town to once again charm Atlanta audiences this holiday season. Adapted and directed by the Center's Artistic Director, Jon Ludwig, the production is based on the beloved 1964 stop-motion animated special and provides the audience with the opportunity to experience the timeless tale of Rudolph and his misfit friends live on stage. Opening on November 3, Ludwig's adaptation for the puppet stage faithfully embraces the original and includes all of the beloved characters such as Hermey, the elf who is an aspiring dentist, Yukon Cornelius, and the Abominable Snow Monster. The Center is honored to again work with Character Arts LLC to bring back the licensed puppet stage production of this yuletide classic.

"Once is not enough! We had so much fun creating Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer the first time that we cannot wait to do it again," remarked Ludwig on the return of the holiday classic. "Our original cast is back and is bursting with excitement. All the puppets, scenery, props and, of course, that enormous Bumble suit are being shined up for this season's production. With the cheers and laughter of sell-out crowds still in our ears from last year's production, we hope everyone will join us again. And if this year is your first time, we guarantee you are in for a special holiday treat. Start practicing your "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" for the big sing-a-long! Everyone is invited - Rudolph is fun for the whole family!"

In spring of 2010, the Center's production team began the monumental task of recreating one of the world's most treasured holiday classics, turning the Puppet Building Shop into a veritable "Santa's Workshop," as the team designed and built approximately 60 puppets. Rudolph debuted in 2010 to an overwhelming response with a record 91 sold-out performances, delighted audiences and rave reviews. More than 29,000 patrons attended the Center to see Rudolph, including approximately 110 school groups and over 40 birthday and holiday parties.

This holiday season, those same beloved characters will make their second appearance on the main stage at the Center for Puppetry Arts. With preparation for the remount underway, excitement at the Center continues to build as the timeless tale comes back to life and creates a new holiday tradition. In the words of Atlanta Journal Constitution writer Wendell Brock, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at the Center for Puppetry Arts is a "holly-jolly holiday adventure for theater-goers of all ages."
