Atlanta-based, nationally acclaimed Elton John tribute artist Craig A Meyer, returns home to Atlanta for a one-night only concert.
On Friday October 6 REMEMBER WHEN ROCK WAS YOUNG-THE Elton John TRIBUTE will perform at Church Of The Redeemer (5185 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd Atlanta GA 30342 ) The two hour concert will start at 8pm.
The concert will also benefit the Atlanta chapter of AUTISM SPEAKS. In addition to a portion of the evening's proceeds going to the organization, there will be a live auction for the opportunity to join Meyer onstage for a special song.
REMEMBER WHEN ROCK WAS YOUNG-THE Elton John TRIBUTE features the totally Atlanta based Rocket Band -Michael Lamond (Bass), Kelly Fletcher (Vocals), Danny Howes (Guitar), Courtney Loner (Vocals), Guy Strauss (Drums) and Pat Strawser (Keyboards). Meyer, a/k/a Almost Elton John, promises to take the hometown crowd on a spectacular musical journey, celebrating decades of chart topping hits by Sir Elton John, including "Benny and the Jets," "Philadelphia Freedom," and "Crocodile Rock."
Craig A Meyer has traversed all four corners of the entertainment industry, collecting credits and making a mark in theatre, film, television and music. On Broadway, Meyer created the role of Clinton Badger in MGM's classic Meet Me In St Louis. He toured nationally in Cats, as Skimbleshanks; Starlight Express, as The Red Caboose; and Irving Berlin's White Christmas, as Mike Nulty.
In music, Meyer has toured internationally and recorded with music legends Barry Manilow and Frankie Valli. Throughout his varied career, Meyer was repeatedly approached about his striking resemblance to Elton John and his uncanny ability to sound like the rock and roll legend. Meyer was eventually persuaded to expand his repertoire, and began impersonating Sir Elton John.
Today, Meyer is considered to be the best Elton John tribute artist in the market. His strong vocals, striking resemblance and amazing talent on the piano have audiences everywhere remembering when rock was young.
Atlanta theater goers may recognize the award-winning Meyer from his local performances, including appearances at the Tony Award winning ALLIANCE THEATRE, in the critically acclaimed Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, for which he also served as choreographer. The production was honored with a Suzi Bass Award for Best Musical Production in 2008 as well as Best Ensemble. Meyer was thrilled to win the Suzi Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical. Other Alliance performances include Razoul/Iago in Disney's Aladdin and TJ in Sister Act-The Musical.
Meyer worked with Alan Menken on Disney's Aladdin, and with Tim Rice and Elton John on The Lion King. Television and film appearances include guest-starring roles on "Necessary Roughness," "Will & Grace," "Good Morning Miami," "Family Law," "General Hospital" and "Fernwood 2nite." Film credits include Leatherheads with George Clooney and Renee Zellweger, Joyful Noise with Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah and, Identity Thief with Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy.
A celebration of the character, costumes and charisma of the famed pianist and singer, Meyer's fully produced show has captivated audiences throughout the United States and abroad, and now, area residents can enjoy the spectacle.
