PushPush, an artist-driven organization that cultivates, connects, and creates ideas in performance and media and Atlanta Film Festival 365, one of the nation's oldest and most influential media arts organizations, have come together to bring the Think Outside the Box Office workshop to Atlanta Saturday, November 13 and Sunday, November 14, 2010.

Taught by critically acclaimed filmmaker and author Jon Reiss, the Think Outside the Box Office (TOTBO) 2 Day Workshop is a live step by step guide into to the new world of hybrid distribution and marketing including how filmmakers can create a distribution and marketing strategy that is unique for their film, the various markets that are available to release their film, how and why they need to engage their audience as early as possible and how to think beyond the feature film to create new forms of content and/or to market and distribute their film. The workshop weekend will include a Friday, November 12 cocktail reception and a Saturday, November 14 Networking Happy Hour with Industry Professionals.

"Even though Georgia's film industry has seen a surge in film production since the 2008 Tax Incentive, it's important to remember that a large portion of that growth is coming from outside of Georgia," said Atlanta Film Festival 365 Communications Director Charles Judson. "From an artistic and economic standpoint, it's in our long-term interest that we help empower local filmmakers and encourage indigenous filmmaking."

"Jon's book and workshop bring 21st century ideas to our local creators that we may otherwise not have access to. He's on the pulse of what's new in the industry and his philosophy centers on something near and dear to us: relationship-building and artistic sustainability. Anyone hoping to engage new audiences with their original work should not miss this experience." Tim Habeger, Co-Founder of PushPush.

SHERI CANDLER Sheri Candler is a successful marketing and publicity specialist who is putting her skills and expertise into helping independent filmmakers gather an audience for their work. While working as the Marketing and Sponsorship Manager for the Santa Clarita Valley Film Festival, she encountered numerous talented filmmakers who possessed expert knowledge in storytelling and film production, yet lacked the knowledge of how to promote and distribute their films. As a fan of independent films, it was painful to see how opportunities were being missed and she now uses her marketing experience to help independent filmmakers devise successful marketing and promotional strategies. Recently, she has worked with the Los Angeles Film Festival, the Los Angeles International Shorts Fest (LA Shorts) and is a contributing writer to Microfilmmaker Magazine covering film marketing for microbudget films.

Technical assistance is funded, in part, by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and Georgia Council for the Arts.
