Aurora Theatre assembles the best children's performers in the region, bringing them to Gwinnett County for the series Aurora Children's Playhouse. In the summertime the performance schedule moves to Wednesday with shows at 10 am and 11:30am beginning on May 28 featuring five spectacular acts through June 25. Aurora Children's Playhouse: Summer Edition welcomes local families to attend, and offers special group rates for churches, camps and day cares to bus in groups.
On May 28, Aurora Children's Playhouse favorite Lee Bryan - "That Puppet Guy" entertains with Planet Earth, Inc. This show combines hand puppets, magic tricks, and live original songs for an innovative introduction to recycling, water waste, air pollution, and rainforest preservation. So get ready for a rollicking good time that will have you tapping your feet to the musical beat in this ecological revue.
A brand new show from The Story Ship called Diggery Digger's Rock 'n Roar Dino Show performs on June 4. When Paleontologist Diggery Diggers discovers a "top secret" box he unleashes the DinoSauroScope 3000 or DINA taking the audience back into time to interact with dinosaurs. All is well until they use DINA on a large dinosaur egg....the dinosaurs in museums around the world start to come alive! Come along for a rocking dino adventure with Diggery and save the human race.
The amazing Arthur Atsma returns for a third summer with his mega-hit Camp Aurora Magic Show on June 11. Arthur will amaze and amuse folks of all ages with a show filled with captivating sleight-of-hand magic, audience interaction and comedy. Magic has a wonderful way of capturing one's attention. When a child is focused on a magic trick or thinks, "How did he do that?" their minds are open to a world of possibility and learning. It's not necessarily magic, but Arthur Atsma has a way of making tickets disappear.
On June 18, Music Makes A Splash with Scott Douglas. Experience the joy of music and storytelling as this master musician marvels young audiences evoking the sounds of paradise with instruments like steel drums, African drums, didgeridoo, Native-American flutes, hammered dulcimer, accordion, Chinese drums and gongs, thunder drum and the waterphone. Children and even adults will be invited to participate on rattles, shakers, scrapers, cowbells, tuned bells and other sound makers as they virtually travel the world through rivers and oceans forming a Chinese music group, African drum ensemble, steel band and realistic sounding Amazon rainforest.
In Aurora Children's Playhouse: Summer Edition's grand finale kids have fun with science as Big Thinkers Science Exploration go Fizz, Boom, POP! on June 25. Discover the chemistry that is all around you. From exploding film canisters to electrifying indoor lightning, little scientists are sure to love this show. Fizz, Boom, POP! will inspire children to THINK BIG by scientifically engaging with the world around them.
Aurora Children's Playhouse features puppeteers, magicians, storytellers, jugglers and musicians intended for youngsters to have their first theatrical experiences. At about 45 minutes in length, perfect for the young attention span, these lively performances are fun for the whole family. Aurora Children's Playhouse: Summer Edition is back for a fifth summer with Wednesday morning performances at 10 & 11:30am.
