Making her ALLIANCE THEATRE debut, Kate Buddeke will play Margaret Walsh, the hard-luck mother trying to establish a better life for herself and her daughter. Buddeke, a favorite actor on Chicago stages, is also a Broadway, TV, and film veteran. Broadway credits include Superior Donuts, Gypsy, and Death of a Salesman.
Brenda Bynum returns to the Alliance Stage as Dottie, Margie's foul-mouthed, bingo-playing landlady. Bynum last appeared at the Alliance as Violet Weston, the family matriarch in August: Osage County, was widely praised by audiences and critics.
The cast also includes Atlanta actors Andrew Benator as Stevie, LaLa Cochran as Jean, and Kristen Ariza as Kate, as well as Los Angeles based actor Thomas Vincent Kelly as Mike. A prevalent force in Atlanta theatre, Benator is on stage at the Alliance now in the role of Jacob Marley in A Christmas Carol. He too appeared in the Alliance's production of August: Osage County. Making his ALLIANCE THEATRE debut, Kelly is an established stage, film and television actor best known for his work on the television series 24 as Dr. Marc Besson. He is also a founding ensemble member of the Seanachaí Theatre Company in Chicago.
Performances are Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 pm, Fridays at 8:00 pm, Saturdays at 2:30 pm and 8:00 pm, and Sundays at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm, January 16 - February 10, 2013 on the Alliance Stage.
