Summer in the South is swathed in heat - as the mercury rises, personalities writhe and drama comes to a boil. Few stories capture the tumult of the region's hot spells as well as Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire, and Serenbe is taking the heat of the story to new heights by setting it outside in the elements of a Georgian summer. The dark southern scope of Blanche DuBois' timeless and sultry tale of deception will be brought to new life in the industrial scenery of Serenbe's newly debuted Art Farm stage. There, the French Quarter of New Orleans will be resuscitated within rustic, recycled shipping containers to create a fresh, bold, timeless take on a true classic. Scroll down for a sneak peek at the leads!

The tale of Stella, Stanley, and Blanche will be brought to more heightened levels of sexual intrigue than ever before. Playing Stanley will be Matthew Davis (Vampire Diaries, Legally Blonde). "Stanley is a giant within the pantheon of characters that represent the golden era of theater, to get to know him, to embody him, and to experience the world of Tennessee Williams through Stanley's senses and passions is every actor's dream," Davis says.

For Founder and Executive/Artistic Director Brian Clowdus, this is equally as great of an opportunity. "I have been dying to produce a Tennessee Williams play since day one of Serenbe Playhouse. It's the absolute perfect setting and the material is still so hot and groundbreaking. Our production will prove that A Streetcar Named Desire is still relevant, sexy and a story that needs to be told."

Encased in the rustic environs of the Art Farm stage, which is constructed completely of recycled shipping containers, the lusty story of endless deceit will be brought to raw and electrifying altitudes. That setting when put to use with the endless talents of the play's all-star Atlanta cast, which includes not only Matthew Davis, but Deborah Bowman as Blanche, Ann Marie Gideon as Stella, and Daniel Parvis as Mitch, is sure to make for a tantalizing tale.

As Davis said himself, "Theatre is immediate, electric, and raw. The actor has no place to hide. That being said, he also has total control of his performance; it's his to own completely. Each performance is a unique piece of art never to be seen again."

Joining director Brian Clowdus on the production team is composer John Burke, costume designer Abby Parker, lighting designer Kevin Frazier, sound designer Daniel Pope, and assistant director Ryan Oliveti. The set designed by Brian Clowdus and Ryan Oliveti will feature furniture from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams.

Show dates and times for A Streetcar Named Desire are June 11th - June 28th on Wednesdays - Sundays at 8:30 p.m.; Tickets are $30 for Adults and $25 for students. For more information about Serenbe Playhouse and to purchase tickets, visit www.serenbeplayhouse.com or call 770.463.1110.
