Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company, continues 2015 with the World Premiere comedy-drama Homers from Atlanta playwright and actor, Jacob York, and directed by well-known Atlanta director Jaclyn Hofmann. The new play runs at GET tonight, February 26th through March 15th, 2015 at the Theatre's home, the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, 950 Forrest Street, Roswell, GA. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action!
Homers by Jacob York. York, a huge Atlanta sports fan has translated that enthusiasm into a fantastic new play that appeals to sports fans and theatre goers alike. Put on your team's jersey and settle in for some great entertainment!
In this story where fan-dom and family intersect, we meet Leigh Elder, a female sports writer for a major metro Atlanta newspaper. She's a homer: love and loyalty to the Braves, the Hawks, and the Falcons. When a dream job falls into her lap and promises to take her to the big-time of L.A., she is thrilled. The only thing that stands in the way is her biggest fan: her father. Can a homer ever really leave home? Devotion can be tough in the big leagues!
The terrific local cast includes Diany Rodriguez as Leigh Elder, Frank Roberts as her father Pat, and Rob Cleveland as her boss Doyle. The cast is rounded out by Jennifer Lamourt (Claire the intern) and Jeffrey M. Stephenson as Leigh's college friend Trey. The design team features a set by Stephanie Polhemus, costumes by Marie Estes, lights by Tara O'Neill, and sound by Jason Polhemus. Courtney Greeverserves as stage manager.
Ticket prices for Homers range from $25 to $35 (Senior/Student discounts available for select performances). "Recession-Buster" perimeter tickets may also be purchased for $10 based on availability. Tickets are available now online at www.get.org, or by calling the Box Office at 770-641-1260.
