David Lindsay-Abaire's dark comedy GOOD PEOPLE is quite the undertaking for the directorial debut of Associate Artistic Director Matthew Busch. GOOD PEOPLE is set in Southie, a densely populated neighborhood of South Boston known as a primarily working-class Irish American community that has recently undergone significant gentrification, making life more unaffordable for the residents of humbler means.

For Margie and her friends, a night on the town is a few rounds of bingo and this month's paycheck pays last month's bills. Award-winning actor Amanda Cucher stars as the luckless Margie, a high school dropout and single mom to an adult daughter with severe disabilities. When Margie loses her job at the dollar store, her brassy friends Dottie and Jean (Liane LeMaster and LeeAnna Lambert) encourage her to visit an old flame who's recently moved back into town.

To her surprise, Margie finds Mikey Dee from Old Harbor a changed man. Dr. Michael Dillon, reproductive endocrinologist, seems to be a far cry from the man she once knew back at Southie High. Married now, and with a young daughter, Mike (Will Brooks) appears to be living the charmed life and has lost all connection with his Southie roots. But can this apparently self-made man face his humble beginnings? Is Mikey Dee still "good people?" Scrambling to make ends meet and facing eviction, Margie will risk what little she has to find out.

With his signature humorous glow, David Lindsay-Abaire explores the struggles, shifting loyalties and unshakeable hopes that come with having next to nothing in America.

Also featuring Mystie Smith and Jeffrey Sneed, GOOD PEOPLE is an insightful comedy of class and culture, a Broadway hit that's darkly funny and surprisingly touching.

GOOD PEOPLE runs now through April 23, 2016 Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 3PM. Out of Box Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit professional theatre located just outside the perimeter in the Artisan Resource Center at 585 Cobb Parkway S, Marietta, GA 30060. Tickets are $17-$25 and can be purchased online at www.outofboxtheatre.com or by calling the box office at 678-653-4605.
