Lauren Megan plays Caitlin Gabriel, a victim of a shooting at her high school, who has also been accused of causing the deaths of several classmates. The story swirls around in the media, gaining a foothold that Caitlyn can't dislodge. She struggles to convince people of her innocence- her parents, the authorities, community leaders- but the opposition is just too strong. Even her fractured family (Jeffrey Bigger and Stacy Fondren King) find it difficult to put their trust in her.
In an effort to make sense of the senseless violence perpetrated by a disturbed young man, Caitlin has become an easy scapegoat to blame for the promising lives ended too soon. The Library at Out of Box Theatre also features Emily Tyrybon, Ian Coulter, A. Julian Verner, Stephen Ray DeVillers, and Mary Saville.
The Library will be presented in the round, a nod to the way that these stories and events become central to our experience. The central nature of the action lends the audience the ability to examine the escalating events from ever-changing angles.
Out of Box brings this bold and chilling regional premiere to its stage. Written by acclaimed writer Scott Z. Burns (Side Effects, Contagion, The Bourne Ultimatum), The Library asks us to examine our relationship to the truth and the lies that claim to heal us.
The Library by Scott Z. Burns runs March 4-19, 2016 Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8PM, Sunday February 14 at 3 PM.
