Horizon Theatre Company has announced its 28th season of contemporary theatre. Horizon's 2012 season features an audience favorite, two world premieres developed through the New South Play Festival, and a Southeastern premiere. Horizon's intimate 172 seat theatre can be found in Atlanta's funky Little Five Points business and arts district.
The season opens January 13, 2012 with a remount production of Horizon's Avenue Q.
The production is directed by Heidi Cline McKerley and opens for an extended run January 13.
In May, Horizon produces the first of two world premieres with Eddie Levi Lee and Larry Larson's The Waffle Palace: Smothered, Covered, and Scattered 24/7/365. Inspired by amazing real life events at Waffle House restaurants, The Waffle Palace takes the stage May 11 – June 24.
The summer continues with Horizon's second world premiere Sheddin' by Thomas W. Jones II.
Sheddin' is another comic installment in the lives of Walt and Ruthie from 2009's A Cool Drink A
Water. The bebop hiphop comedy runs July 13 – August 19.
Horizon's 2012 season concludes with the critically acclaimed drama Time Stands Still by Pulitzer Award winning playwright Donald Margulies. The production will feature Atlanta favorites Carolyn Cook and Chris Kayser and runs September 14 – October 14.
