Mix together four strong, unique Southern women, an impromptu happy hour, a dash of fate--shaken not stirred, and you have the recipe for this laugh-a-minute comedy, The Savannah Sipping Society!

Written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, collectively known as JONES HOPE WOOTEN, they enjoy the reputation of being three of the most popular and widely-produced playwrights in the United States. Specializing in writing laugh-out-loud comedies and creating vivid strong roles for women, and because of their commitment to and support of local theaters across the nation, they've built a following with legions of loyal fans and have been dubbed "America's Playwrights."

The opening night gala tonight, February 11th, will be a red carpet affair. The playwrights will be in attendance and immediately following the show, there will be a Q&A with the playwrights and actors. That, combined with complimentary hors d'oeuvres pre-show, dessert and coffee at intermission, and a meet and greet with the authors after the Q&A, promises to be an event not to be missed. There is no additional charge for this evening (other than the already low ticket price of admission).

Gypsy Theatre Company was bestowed the honor of this World Premiere after producing The Dixie Swim Club in 2012. Gypsy brought the authors in for an appearance during Gypsy's "Authors Night Out!" (another gala event which included the authors attending the show with a Q&A afterwards).

JHW expressed their pleasure with the production to Mercury, Artistic Director for Gypsy Theatre Company, which led to talks of Gypsy doing a world premiere for JHW. Mercury comments, "It was such a delight to meet Jessie, Nicholas and Jamie. They are incredibly gracious and warm -- and we had such a good time at the after-party, talking and cutting up."

Jessie Jones added, "We were extremely pleased with Gypsy's production of The Dixie Swim Club. Mercury's direction of the play was exquisite, highlighting elements that we had not seen in any previous production."

Danielle Gustaveson, Managing Director for Gypsy, played the character Dinah in that production and garnered high praise from Nicholas Hope. "Danielle absolutely hit the mark with Dinah," Hope told Gustaveson. "She completely embodied the spirit of Dinah exactly as we had intended when writing her."

The Savannah Sipping Society should prove to be of equal caliber. Opening tonight, February 11th, and running through February 28th at The Sylvia Beard Theatre at the Buford Community Center, Gypsy Theatre Company's team has been hard at work preparing for the production.

"That's one of the many reasons why we chose Gypsy as our in-house theatre company," said Todd Cleveland, Director for the Buford Community Center. "Their professionalism, quality of product, and total dedication to creating a remarkable experience for every patron that comes to see one of their shows convinced us we needed to collaborate with Gypsy."

Featuring the local talents of Eileen Koteles, Bobbie Elzey, Judith Beasley, Lory Cox and Danielle Gustaveson, this production will be a not-to-miss event. So raise your glass to these strong Southern women and their fierce embracing of life and say "Cheers!" to the joyful and surprisingly touching SAVANNAH SIPPING SOCIETY!
