Ghostlight Performing Arts Company was founded in March 2013 by Sean Newman and several others who, having worked with another theatre group for five years, found themselves without a program. "Unable to accept defeat, they began to discuss their options. After a series of late nights and exciting meetings, they came to the solution of starting something of their own, something that could capitalize on their desire to bring quality performing arts to the North Georgia area. From these conversations came the birth of a whole new program; Ghostlight Performing Arts Company", adds Newman

At the moment, Ghostlight is a small group working out of borrowed spaces for rehearsals and performances. As time goes on, however, their goal is to find themselves a permanent home so that they can deliver professional-quality performances and well-rounded education for adults and children. Their programming right now will focus primarily on their Youth Theatre Project, which is dedicated to providing the rising stars of North Georgia the opportunity to hone their craft with experienced, talented directors. In time, they plan to expand their work to include adult mainstage productions, dance performances, and concerts.

Ghostlight will launch its inaugural season with a production of "Disney's The Little Mermaid JR", a musical based on the hit Disney film of the same name. The show features a book by Doug Wright, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and music by Alan Menken. Helmed by Ghostlight's Artistic Director, Sean Newman, the company describes the show as "a musical adventure that's sure to be a hit with the whole family."

This production will begin performances in September of 2013, with the exact run dates to be announced shortly. Ghostlight also plans to take a fifteen minute selection of "The Little Mermaid JR" to the Junior Theatre Festival in January 2014.

Newman credits corporate sponsors such as Click Ready Marketing and SleeveCo who financialy aided in helping with funding of a PR Campaign for their performing arts company's launch.
