The Georgia Symphony Orchestra will continue to present a wide variety of musical performances in its 2012-2013 season, which launches on the thirteenth of October.
On Oct. 13, the Symphony continues a collaboration with Zion Baptist Church, where the GSO will perform world premieres by Nicole Chamberlain, Grant Harville, and Erik Lindgren intertwined with Morton Gould’s American Ballads. Guest baritone Oral Moses will be featured.
On Nov. 3, GSO Jazz presents big band adaptations of the music of the acclaimed rock band Radiohead at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre on the Marietta Square.
On Dec. 8th, the GSO 2012 Holiday Pops concerts include a Hollywood theme with selections from seasonal films. The Georgia Symphony will be joined by the GSO Chorus and the Georgia Youth Symphony Chorus for these performances, which will be held at the Murray Arts Center of Mount Paran Christian School.
On March 9, the Georgia Symphony presents the tremendous pairing of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony #1 (“Titan”) and Ernest Bloch’s Sacred Service, which will feature Cantor Steven Weiss and the GSO Chorus. The performance will be held in Morgan Hall in the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center at Kennesaw State University.
On May 4th, the GSO Chorus will present a concert at Marietta First United Methodist Church led by BRyan Black.
