Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET) announced today that Co-Founder and Artistic Director Robert J. Farley will make the Company's upcoming 25th Silver Anniversary Season his final year as head of the theatre.

After 50 years as a professional theatre artist, with over 40 of those years as an Artistic Director for Alaska Repertory Theatre, The ALLIANCE THEATRE Company in Atlanta, and since 1992, Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), Farley is stepping aside to pursue other life goals.

Farley said, "I am happy that GET is at a place where it is stable, vital, and operating with more performance and educational programs than at any time in our history. Given that, plus the fact that I do have other goals in life outside of the theatre that I wish to explore before it is too late, I feel that this is a good chapter in time for me to retire from the theatre profession. I will bid adieu to Georgia Ensemble Theatre on April 30, 2018at the conclusion of our benchmark 2017-2018 25th Silver Anniversary Season."

He went on to say that he and Co-Founder ANita Allen-Farley, who will be staying on in GET's leadership role as Managing Director, have been working with a Succession Committee and the Board leadership for over a year and rest assured that the strategy for his retirement has been well planned in order to provide a seamless transition for the organization and GET's constituents. "I will leave with a rock-solid foundation in place for GET to flourish and prosper for many years to come. I will retire at the end of April 2018 with the knowledge that I could have continued to have a home here at GET as Artistic Director for as long as I wished, thanks to Anita, our Board and staff who all provide unconditional love and support. Our team has worked most diligently in selecting Alan Kilpatrick as Associate Artistic Director for the upcoming season and as my successor effective May 1, 2018. Passing the torch of artistic leadership to Mr. Kilpatrick will provide GET with one of the kindest and most skilled theatre artists working in Atlanta today."

Concerning his final season, Farley said, "Our 25th Silver Anniversary Season is going to be one big party all season long. Each play I have selected to celebrate this huge occasion has been chosen as a tribute to our subscribers, donors, sponsors, and supporters. I thank each of you with all my heart, and I cannot wait to share my farewell season with you every step of the way."
