Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company, continues its 19th season with one of the funniest American plays ever written, THE FOREIGNER by Larry Shue, running February 23rd through March 11th. All performances are at the Theatre's home in the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, 950 Forrest St., Roswell, GA 30075.
THE FOREIGNER uses every device in the comedy storehouse to make audiences laugh hysterically. Charlie's shyness renders him helpless in conversation – so when a friend covers for him by telling the other guests in a rural Georgia mountain lodge that he is an exotic foreigner and speaks no English, Charlie ends up hearing more – much more – than he should – and the hilarity begins.
Artistic Director Robert J. Farley says, "Laughter is one of the greatest balms we have as human beings, and this show is a perfect band-aid to help heal us, whether it be the aches of troubled times that need attending or a simple lift from the doldrums of winter." He calls GET's production "the perfect convergence of a great script, matched by the mastery of [Atlanta-based director] Jim Donadio, and a first rate ensemble cast."
THE FOREIGNER features Hugh Adams (Sisters of Swing, Sleuth), John Stephens (Tokens of Affection, Inherit the Wind), Nita Hardy (Arsenic and Old Lace), Jonathan MacQueen (I Do, I Do), Scott Warren (Season's Greetings) and making their GET debut, Tracy Vaden Moore and Bryan Mercer. The design team includes David Manuel as Scenic Designer, Chuck Tedder as Lighting Designer, Jim Alford as Costume Designer, and Jason Polhemus as Sound Designer.
THE FOREIGNER has performances on Wednesdays at 7:30pm, Thursdays through Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2:30pm. There will also be two Saturday 4 pm matinees: March 3 and 10. Tickets range in price from $23-$33, with student, senior and group discounts also available. New this season: Recession Busting $10 tickets available for perimeter seating only in the theatre (no other discounts apply, and this discount is not available with online ticketing.) Tickets may be purchased online at www.get.org or by calling GET at 770-641-1260.
Next, The Georgia Ensemble Theatre presents the high energy barn-burner of a musical Ring of Fire: the Johnny Cash Musical Show (April 12-29, 2012) directed by GET Artistic Director Robert J. Farley.
The Georgia Ensemble Theatre and Conservatory provides professional theatre productions and arts education to the north metro Atlanta area.
