In partnership with Lexus, the Fox Theatre proudly hosts the car company's hand-painted LC 500 in its famed arcade pathway for patrons to admire now through November 2018. Atlanta artist R. Land, whose work is featured at the Atlanta History Museum, Georgia State Capitol and countless businesses and establishments throughout Georgia and the Southeast, was chosen to create the street art car earlier this year in celebration of the 10th Annual Attack of the Killer Tomato Festival.
"From the start, I understood the message and felt passionate about participating in the project," said R. Land. Well-known for his iconic 'Pray for ATL' piece and for creating work reflecting his pride for the city, R. Land features recognizable Atlanta attractions in a rare art medium, bringing to life a love for the many Atlanta neighborhoods, support for the sports teams and tribute to some top restaurants like JCT Kitchen and Superica. During the one-day Attack of the Killer Tomato Festival, R. Land completed his winning design, which included his distinct representation of the Fox's legendary marquee among other iconic landmarks, in real time surrounded by festival goers.
"We were delighted that our longtime partner Lexus brought its mobile art piece to the Fox, which not only features our marquee but highlights what we love about Atlanta," said Allan C. Vella, CEO and President of Fox Theatre, Inc. "We urge everyone, from our guests to people simply walking by, to enjoy R. Land's artistic interpretation of the city."
"We wanted an interactive art experience while celebrating the city and the Attack of the Killer Tomato Festival," said Jason Cropper, General Manager of the Lexus Southern Area. "After meeting with R. Land and seeing his passion jump from ideas on a page to a living breathing design was exciting. The creation of the car at the festival was amazing to watch, and now we are continuing the car's journey to the Fox Theatre for guests to admire."
