The beloved holiday film is being brought to life live-on-stage as the award-winning Broadway show, A Christmas Story, The Musical, embarks on an eight-city National Tour this holiday season. Four leads from the 2015 tour will return to reprise their roles for the third season of Big League's critically acclaimed production. Myles Moore returns, alternating the role of the iconic Ralphie Parker with Austin Molinaro. Moore's portrayal of Ralphie has been hailed by The Arizona Republic as "brilliant... he is a strong presence on stage with commanding vocal talent."Susannah Jones reprises her role as Mother. The Oklahoman claimed "It was Susannah Jones, capturing the quiet strength and vulnerability of The Mother, who gave the musical its beating heart." Christopher Swan returns as The Old Man, in a performance the San Francisco Chronicle praised as "marvelous... part Jackie Gleason, part Paul Lynde." Chris Carsten once again joins the cast as radio personality and narrator Jean Shepherd, a role for which he was praised by The Oklahoman as "excellent" and "outstanding."
Joining the veteran cast of A Christmas Story, The Musical, Arick Brooks will take on the role of little brother Randy, with Angelica Richie as Miss Shields. The cast also includes Andrew Berlin, Matthew Brennan, Sydney Chan, Jessica Crilley, Josh Davis, Elizabeth Flanagan, Briana Gantsweg, K'Lynn Jackman, Allie Kiesel, Kevin Kulp, Joey Little, Allison Maldonado, Lucas Marinetto, Brooke Martino, Evan Mayer, Mark Megill, Wyatt Oswald, Sofia Pargas, Kyle Patrick Scanlon and Joshua Turchin. A Christmas Story, The Musical chronicles young and bespectacled Ralphie Parker as he schemes his way toward the holiday gift of his dreams, an official Red Ryder® Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle ("You'll shoot your eye out kid!"). An infamous leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a maniacal department store Santa, and a triple-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the distractions that stand between Ralphie and his Christmas wish. A Christmas Story, The Musical features a festive and nostalgic holiday themed score by composer/lyricist team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, with a book by Joseph Robinette, based on the writings of radio humorist Jean Shepherd and the 1983 holiday film favorite. The tour features direction by Matt Lenz.
